Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog! My husband and I decided that once a month we will do an Ethnic Food Night together as a family.  We are so excited to learn about other countries and to share this with our daughter, who is now almost three.

I am secretly hoping to get my husband in the mood to actually GO see the world! I have been to 13 countries and 35 states, myself.   I mean I've had a Passover dinner in Israel, been cave tubing in Belize, stayed in a castle in Ireland, and walked in parks filled with flamingos in Sweden!!! How can I NOT want to travel more after that? Shannon's desire to travel is minimal. I'm pretty sure my husband has been to Canada, and maybe about 12 states, but mostly for business.  Isn't he just so deprived???

Anyhow, we started by each picking a country from Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and two Native American regions from North America.  Also, we threw in Australia and New Zealand.  I plan to post a link to the "research" I do on each country and blog about the activities we do and the recipes we try.  Here is the tentative schedule (S=Shannon's choice and C=my choice)

April: Lithuania (S)
May: Austria (C)
June: Nigeria (S)
July: Egypt (C)
August: Thailand (S)
September: Russia (C)
October: Uruguay (S)
November: Venezuela (C)
December: Too much going on this month...Though, Christmas around the world sounds fun!
January: Southwest Indians (Souix in particular for some reason...S)
February: Southeast Indians (C)
March: Australia and New Zealand
